1/7/10 09:20 pm - [info]hypatia42 - Dec in review

I was home for 7 days total. I am more tired than I can express. Many lessons learned.

-- even when you ask for something from family because they want to know what you want, even bug you on a regular basis until you tell them, they will still get you what they would want instead. I got a huge beige blanket after being asked what color I wanted and telling them that I wanted brown or white. No, mixing the two doesn't work. I got a food processor bigger than god to prep food for the Honey and I... *sigh* I took both back and got what I had asked for in the first place. I'm happier with what I got for myself. Stick to your guns and don't ask for anything.

-- some people cannot take days off. Plan your life accordingly if you do not have this problem. Of the not quite two weeks I was in Paris I took three days of down time and had a marvelous time. In KC and NJ there was no stopping. No getting away from the noise and people. 'Cept at Berkie's cause she had to work and it was just me and the cats. I cried when I was stuck in the airport and I just wanted to go home.

I will probably think more on this later.

1/7/10 08:21 pm - [info]sabrinamari - Bleah!

To day I performed badly at work, and I am really bummed about it.

I just can't commit to this many things in one week and do them all well.

I am going to rest tonight and KICK BUTT tomorrow!

1/7/10 07:37 pm - [info]sabrinamari - Happy Birthday, [info]skyefyr!

I hope your day has been wonderful! I'm thinking of you today, wishing that every good thing and every form of happiness graces your life in the year to come. May all your dreams come true, honey.

Things we have discussed at work today (due to stress, having too much work to do, being shorthanded yet they won't hire anyone else, having people swearing constantly and getting hate emails):

Re-enacting that scene in Boondock Saints where they come down out of the ceiling. Glorious.

Finding a hiding spot in the basement and playing chess.

Mailing myself to a foreign country, just for a vacation.

Imitating a zombie walk around the office while drooling on myself.

Eat Cap'n Crunch while breakdancing.

Listen to Eminem on repeat. (I'm actually doing this right now, it's my therapy.)

Summon demonic apes to build structures out of legos that cause madness because of their IMPOSSIBLE angles.

Make pizza out of the older sales reps.

Staple gun and paper cutter. Need I say more?

Ride the old tricycle around the office, naked while wearing a clown mask and whistling the theme from the Facts of life.

Indeed.

1/6/10 04:09 pm - [info]sabrinamari - Who are KIVA's microloan partners, anyway?

Ever wondered what kind of organization goes into the microloan business? Who are these people, and what are they seeking to do?

Here are two:

FUDECOSUR

"The first, FUDECOSUR, funds mostly farmers (about 98% of their portfolio) in southern Costa Rica, one of the poorest areas of the country. They use a village banking methodology, but one that is different from other organizations. The village banks operate quite independently, with the idea that they can be responsible for the economic development in their communities. The organization is really committed to training and financial education, and is working with some communities on organic farming methods and environmentally friendly agriculture practices. They have also received a social performance evaluation using a tool called CERISE, which indicated that they have strong outreach to poor and marginalized communities."

AMK

"I wanted to highlight a loan that was recently posted by AMK – our largest microfinance partner in Cambodia. This loan is the first made by AMK's Special Interest Group Unit (SIGU) – a department within AMK ,designed to serve more ‘vulnerable’ groups that are currently underserved by microfinance services. These groups include women who are victims of trafficking, domestic violence and other gender-based traumas, people living with HIV/AIDS, street people and children and people with disabilities. AMK is currently focusing on assisting women who are victims of trafficking, domestic violence and other gender-based traumas."

This week is super busy, and I'm productivity girl. All but one of the papers I'm on require me to present my work on them this week. Stayed till 9:00 tonight to get ready for Paper Meeting One at 10:00 and still need to prep for Paper Meeting Two at 1:00. Paper Meeting Three is Thursday at 11:00. I'll get up super early to prep for that one.

But hey, I'm on it.

I also need to finish all book work this month. Whew!

1/5/10 09:02 am - [info]nibuca - Yes, but why is the trim gone?

/harumph

I turned my house upside down looking for the gold and red trim that's been in "that one" box for the last 5 years. I just realized.. I think I donated it to Ducal this year. /facepalm

Well off to store to buy trim for 12th night garb.
